Halloween has come and gone, but the internet is forever. We might be trading spooky season for a broader holiday season, sure, but for some of us, spooky season lives on all year long. In 2021, dogs from all around the world were showing their Halloween spirit in style with amazingly boo-tiful costumes that the people of the internet absolutely loved. Let’s check out what dog parents and dogs got up to for Halloween 2021!

Halloween has Gone to the Dogs

For generations, Halloween was a holiday that was mostly embraced by humans. Now, that is well and truly in the past. With the help of their pawrents, doggos all around the globe got into the spooky spirit this season—and we are seriously loving the results. Whether these pups dressed up for Halloween parties, scary movies nights, or a local Howl-o-ween celebration, we absolutely loved seeing them in their terrifyingly cute outfits!

The truth is that every year, more pawrents are realizing that their doggos can join in on the Halloween spirit. More costumes are being made (we’ve made several cute options of our own too!), and more dogs are dressing up too. With this wave of cute, it isn’t surprising that the internet has quickly become a place for the best-dressed canines around. Scary, cute—or scary cute—we don’t care. We love every single doggo that is sharing their adorable looks online!

Living low-key can be fun, but Instagram has empowered so many of us to really step into the spotlight—and we aren’t alone. Every day, pawrents are flooding the internet with adorable pictures of their pups, and we love to see it. Fortunately, this year Instagram was the perfect place to share the best costumes. Besides, if it isn’t on the internet, did it really ever happen at all?

Every doggo knows that Instagram is the place to be if you want to be able to show off your cute style to a wide audience, so it isn’t surprising that countless pups have their very own accounts. This year, canines were happy to get their spooky on with the help of their pawrents, and the results are almost too cute to handle!

Da Ghostest wif da Mostest

Desi the Doxy was almost too happy to show off this adorable classic Halloween look. She might look extra spooky, but don’t worry. Underneath that scary sheet, she is still 100% doggo. Excited to play out in those beautiful red and orange leaves, she loves showing offer the fact that she is way too cute to spook!.

Just Here for the Boos

We love this adorable image of Lexi the border collie creating her own take on the spooky ghost look. Normally she is a fairly outgoing pup, but this time she really wanted to sell the spooky factor. Following a hard night of work on the graveyard shift, Lexi was proud to be a spirit in the pumpkin patch. Of course, she had to let her ears stay while and free—they are her signature, after all.

Harry Pawter

Siblings Dave the dachsund and Elizabeth the corgi might be from different houses, but they are still best friends for life. Elizabeth was showing off her best Harry Pawter look with the iconic glasses and Gryffindor scarf, but Dave wanted to show off his mischievous side. No one knows pride quite like a Slytherin, and Dave was happy to show his love for this misunderstood house with his very own scarf as well!

The Sweetest Pumpkin in the World

Appa is a miniature chow-chow with a big dog personality, and he was all too excited to find his place in the pumpkin patch. Fitted with this adorable outfit, he was quick to disappear into the surrounding pumpkins—but his pawrents were still quick to find him. He was the cutest pumpkin in the pumpkin patch, so they were happy to take him home. We give him a solid 15/10 for cute floof overload!

Flying Monkeys

As brave as we humans like to pretend to be, there is no denying the fact that the flying monkeys from The Wizard of Oz gave several of us quite a fright. Eager to show off a unique costume design, these two siblings were ready to share their pawrents’ creativity with this year’s Halloween costume. They are normally doggos, but this Halloween, they decided to try a new look… and a new species. Fortunately, they are way too cute to be scary!

Bad to the Bone

The Cutest Mummy

Indie the Pittie is known for her incredible online presence, and she has been all too happy to share her best Halloween looks with us. Recognized for her Bougie Poochie livin’ in California, this little princess absolutely loves dressing up. This year, she decided to kick off the spookiest month of the year with a class mummy look and a toy to match. Yes, she is entirely too cute—and she kept it going all month long, so be sure to check out her profile to see more of her costumes!

What Kind of Phone Does a Mermaid Use?

Avocado the Samo is one of the fluffiest pups around, and we’re fairly certain that this doggo is 100% cloud. This year, this California boy decided to embrace one of his favorite characters with this pawsitively adorable mermaid costume. Complete with seashells, a trident, and a couple of stuffed turtles, this is one of the costumes for dogs that is hard to beat. Not to be extra, but we would totally sell our voices to a sea witch in exchange for a chance to boop that nose. This outfit is only made better with all of its adorable accessories, earning Avo a solid ‘A’ for effort!

Always Be a Pirate

Sir Hamilton Pierre is a popular Frenchie who is living it up in Los Angeles with his mama! Known for his stylish ensembles and made-for-camera personality, this doggo is one of a kind—but for Halloween, he decided to be a pirate. There are plenty of adorable small dog Halloween costumes, but this really takes the dog-friendly cake! Fitted with a hat, a shirt, and his very own take on the Black Pearl, Sir Hamilton Pierre is winning hearts and stealing booty with this adorable look. We would 100% surrender our ship to him if it came down to it, and we don’t feel bad about that at all!

Cookie the Frenchie is a doggo who loves to show off online, and it is so easy to see why! This Halloween season, Cookie aka Cookie Monster was happy to wear a wide variety of different spooky outfits—but this one was definitely our favorite. Cookie might still be young, but she is old in spirit. Her Nana Cookie outfit has the best grandma vibes that we have ever seen. Already, we can hear her telling us to wipe our paws before dinner—and we absolutely love it!

Here to Deliver 10 Pounds of Cuteness

Chico is an inspirational pup hailing from South Carolina, and we absolutely love this adorable UPS costume that he chose to wear. He might only be ten pounds, but you can bet that you will always be excited to receive a delivery from this good boy. It might not be the scariest outfit, but we are seriously loving the crossover with Legally Blonde that is happening with this outfit. If Bruiser was inspired by Kyle O’Boyle, you can bet that this is exactly what would come of it—and Elle would be happy to help!

DEADLY CUTE CHUCKY COSTUME

Our Chucky Doll costume was made to help pups celebrate the Halloween season in the best possible way, but it was also made with the comfort of your dog in mind.

The Cutest Beanie Baby

We were so excited that pawrent Amy Woods decided to share this throwback image of her favorite spotted doggo. Though she is always ready to show off her DIY skills, we love the simplicity of this classic and adorable costume. Beanie Babies were all the rage when a lot of us were growing up, so this image is a throwback in several adorable ways. Props for creativity, innovation, and spotted cuteness!

Am Bee, Not Doggo

Okay, Mr. Angus didn’t get this costume just for Halloween—he got it to celebrate World Bee Day, but you have to admit that this costume is 100% adorable. Known for his amazing online presence alongside his brother, Bon Scott, Mr. Angus is always happy to dress up and show off his style. This year, he wanted to remind you to do your part in caring for the planet, and we love his commitment to making a better world for humans and doggos alike!

The Princess and the Pea—No, Not That Kind

We always love to give credit where credit is due, and Brightly the wire fox terrier has some seriously creative looks. This New York City pup has plenty of fun costumes, but we have to give this one extra attention for the sheer creativity. You don’t see too many people throw it back to classic stories like this, but Brightly took on the challenge, and we absolutely love the results. Would your doggo be able to hold this pose for a photo? What a talented pooch! We definitely think this is one of the best Halloween dog costumes from this year.

A Ferocious Lion

Clover the husky is known for his adorable pictures online with this sister, Lilly, but this year, he wanted to be something totally new. Bored with being a doggo, Clover decided that it was time to dress up like the King of the Jungle with this adorable lion look. This full floof lion costume is too darn cute, and we think that it really brings out the blue in Clover’s eyes. What do you think about this precious costume?

We All Bork Down Here

Sarek the Norwegian Buhund and Finnish Spitz mix decided to go all out with his mama this year for a Halloween look that is certain to give you nightmares. While we do think that Sarek’s George costume is absolutely adorable (who doesn’t love a cute pup in a raincoat?), we have to admit that his pawrent chilled us right through to the bone with her Pennywise look. We love seeing pawrents and doggos team up for fun Halloween costumes, even if it gives us nightmares. Of course, we love knowing that after the photoshoot, Sarek was able to enjoy a few snacks and spend time with her feisty little sister, Sequoia.

Smol Zombie Vibes

This Spooktacular costume is brought to you by Pancho the Parson! This gory look is one of the spookiest Halloween dog costumes online, but don’t worry. Pancho was perfectly safe and happy to get all kinds of attention from his pawrent. At first glance, this costume is sure to give you a fright—but one look at that cute little face will have you ready to be zombie chow in no time. We’re not entirely sure that we would be able to run for protection if we saw this cuteness overload in person!

The Takeaway

There better be treats when we get there!

Doggos come in all shapes and sizes, and they all have their own preferences when it comes to Halloween fashion. We love pups that can really get into the Halloween spirit, and it seems like 2021 was the best Howl-o-ween yet. Only time will tell what next year will bring, but we are so excited to be able to share these terrifyingly cute little floofs with you. Here is to hoping that 2022 will bring us cuter, spookier, and even better dog costumes to remind us why we love Halloween

Until next time, thank you for reading!
