National Dog Mom’s Day

Dog Moms are Improving Canine Lives

With Mother’s Day and National Dog Mom’s Day just around the corner, it is time to reflect on how Dog Moms contribute to the household.

Our dogs love spending time with us, and for most of us, nothing is more important than making sure that our pets have good lives. We’ve talked before about how happy we are about the shift toward pets taking on the role of family in the home, but what does this mean for dog parents?

Dog Moms are those loving maternal figures in a dog's life, and they can have a huge impact on canine happiness. These powerful figures take their pups to the vet, the dog park, and to get all of those delicious treats. Some Dog Moms and dog parents even bake their own treats, so there is a lot for dogs to gain here. Let’s discuss the upcoming holiday for Dog Moms—and how you can celebrate it with your canine.

My mom loooooooves me 😂

Every year, Mother’s Day rolls around on May 8th to celebrate the mothers of human kids, and we love that. There are plenty of amazing mamas that deserve to be celebrated, but like many, we believe that Dog Moms deserve a celebration that is all their own, which is why we are so happy to see that May 7th will be National Dog Mom’s Day—a day where Dog Moms can celebrate and be celebrated for their contributions to the family. We believe that good momma energy comes in all shapes, sizes, and focuses, and there are few things we love more than confident dog parents showing off just how much they love their pups.

Why Are Dog Moms So Special?

Dog moms are the best moms.

The impacts of Dog Moms are something that can only be felt when you look to their canine companions. For these maternal figures, keeping their pets happy, healthy, and comfortable is more important than anything else. These dedicated caregivers are shouldering the duty of caring for dogs all around the world, and those dogs are so happy to have someone so kind and loving by their sides!

They Go the Extra Mile for Their Pets

Traveling with you is my entire life.

The signature trait of a Dog Mom is that she is often the one who will go the extra mile for her pup—and any other pets in the household too. Dog Moms are always looking to ensure that the family is happy and comfortable, and a lot of time and effort goes into it. Whether it means administering medication, picking their dog up because they’re too afraid to jump in the car, or just making sure that their pup has the perfect outfit for their next big event, they always strive to provide the best possible turn of events.

They Cherish Their Pets

My love for you is endless.

Pets have been household companions for generations, but their role in the home used to be much different. We believe that Dog Moms often demonstrate the modern push for this change. Even when faced with ridicule, women who love their pets are always proud to step up and show just how much they care for them—and publicly.

Though dogs might think a little differently than humans do, they still do think and feel—and they know when someone loves them more than someone else. A dog that is cherished by their Dog Mom will shine. They are always happy to see her, go to her for comfort, and are generally calm and loving in her presence (after a good walk, of course).

Sometimes, these special moments can be hard to see, especially when Dog Moms first adopt their pups. Though some pups come ready to play and love their family, other pups are a little more cautious. They might not always know how someone will treat them—or what it is really like to be loved—and this is an area where the power of a Dog Mom can shine through. Dog Moms can love and care for some of the shyer pups until they are ready to open up, and the results can be truly amazing.

They Play a Valuable Role in the Family

Our bond is ever lasting as the ties of this earth.

Like human moms, Dog Moms play a valuable role in the household. It is true that there are plenty of households with happy hounds and Dog Dads too, but Dog Moms can also bring so much value to a home and family. Whether it is taking the time to organize walks or making sure that your dog’s collar and leash match, Dog Moms make the world go around—and many of these women are becoming successful business owners that are changing the pet industry for the better. Better food, better products, and more fun goodies for dogs who want to live the most luxurious life a puppy can live!

Ways to Celebrate This Holiday as a Dog Mom

Any time that we have a holiday that is focused on celebrating a specific person or group, it is always important to do something fun to celebrate. Dog Moms are powerful women who are showing their pets tons of love, and this means that there are so many ways for families to celebrate the Dog Moms in their family.

If you’re a Dog Mom who is looking to make the day extra special for yourself, it is always good to look for any opportunity to have a little extra fun with your pet. While being a Dog Mom does mean setting up trips to the vet and brushing your pup’s teeth, it also means being a lifelong companion for walks and play. Celebrate this day in a fun and pup-focused day with any of these exciting opportunities.

1x1 Time with Your Favorite Canine Companion

This is how I say I love you!

The best way to celebrate being a Dog Mom really is just to sit back and enjoy your Dog Mom-ness. This means taking some 1x1 time with you and your dogs. Quality time is just one of the many powerful ways that Dog Moms show their pets love.

If you have multiple dogs, you can decide whether you want to choose 1x1 time with each dog or if you just want to turn it into your own special day of Dog Momma + doggies for a little more chaotic fun. The most important part is just making sure that your pups get to spend time with you!

A Starbucks Run

Starbucks has been a coffee haven for many of us for ages, and they definitely knew what they were doing when they decided to reveal the puppucino, a delicious dog-friendly offering that makes trips to your local Starbucks twice as fun—and quite a bit cuter! Going for a mom and dog date with your favorite canine companion is a simple and fun way to bond and enjoy the delicious treats that Starbucks can offer. For Dog Moms on the go, this is an instant win.

Get Matching Outfits

Matchy matchy!

Fashion has come a long way across time and cultures. It is constantly changing, and in many ways, the fashion industry is growing. For ages, it has been common to dress up the family in matching outfits, and human parents do it with their human kids all the time—so what about dog parents?

Matching outfits are a really fun bonding experience for you and your dog. They are the easiest way to get a photoshoot that is ridiculously fun and full of character, but also, it can just be fun to do in your free time. Coordinating with your dog on your outfits is like planning outfits with a friend, but better.

Go for a Dog-and-Mom Picnic

Nothing but love and laughter!

Picnics are one of the most dog-friendly human activities, and they are also an excellent opportunity for you and your dog to bond. Pack up a picnic basket with all kinds of different treats for you and your canine companion—and make sure to really focus on items that can be shared. Just remember to keep an eye on your pooch when it comes to some of your favorite snacks. Even on National Dog Mom Day, some pups are fully committed to grabbing that perfect treat off the table. Make sure you also take a bowl of water for your pup to slurp down after their meal!

Do a Family Photoshoot

Family is a circle of strength and love.

For Mother’s Day, one of the most popular gifts is family photos. Mothers often love to see how their family is changing and growing, and Dog Moms feel the same way. Most of us know the struggle of adopting a tiny ball of fluff just to watch that very fluff turn into a giant fur ball.

Family photoshoots can help you to keep track of your pup’s growth over time, and they are also a really fun opportunity to coordinate your outfits. Whether you choose photoshoot opportunities that are fun and friendly or serious and glamorous, make sure to bring some treats for your pup!

Eat at a Dog-Friendly Restaurant

The treats are a must-have here 😁

Throughout the years, knowing where you can or can’t take your dog has been a bit of a guessing game. Fortunately, the modern world has evolved to understand that some dog parents love going places with their pets, which is why this holiday is perfect to celebrate with a mom-and-dog lunch or a dinner date with your favorite canine companion.

To really enjoy this, pick a restaurant that has outdoor seating and is definitely dog-friendly. Places can be found that offer bowls of water for dogs, and some restaurants even have dog-friendly items on their menu so your dog can enjoy their own meal or treats too. Your pup will love enjoying a meal with you, and if you bring them a bone or order them their own goodies, they will definitely look forward to the meal next year!

Head to the Beach

Families that play together, stay together!

The air is changing, and the warmest months are quickly approaching, which is why it is such a good time to head out to soak up the sun with your favorite pup. Dog Moms can have an absolute blast at the beach with their favorite furry friends, so if you’ve been waiting for a good reason to go, choose this holiday to treat yourself (and your dog, of course).

Dog-friendly beaches are a great place for Dog Moms to hang out with their pets, and you might be surprised by how much opportunity they offer. You and your canine companion can get out to soak up some sun, splash in the water, and hang out in a comfortable natural area.

This is also an excellent opportunity for Dog Moms to connect with other dog parents. Since dog-friendly beaches tend to be a hotspot for canine activity, they are also a great place to meet other Dog Moms too. First, you meet on the beach. The next thing you know, you’re making doggy dates and your pack is growing!

The Takeaway

There's no place I'd rather be!

Dogs are very loving creatures, but there are a lot of pups that have a special place in their heart for their Dog Moms. These moms do an excellent job of cleaning up sore paws, giving baths after your dog rolls in the mud, or even just playing a quick game of fetch between meetings. Dog Moms show their dogs love every day, and that is something to celebrate.

Until next time, thank you for reading!
