Staying Classy on National Dress Up Your Pet Day

"Willow, Dilla look here. Snap! Squeak, squeak, squeak, look here. Snap! Cuties you wanna a treat? Snap!" That’s how I spent one pawfect afternoon with my sister Willow.

As we sat a top the most comfortable ottoman ever, decked out in what my mama refers to “Our Sunday’s Best,” we curiously watched the photographer and his second in command snap dozens of photos of us.

Of course you guys know we are no strangers to the camera. Willow and I love to ham it up because right after photos, we’re always rewarded with some of the most delicious peanut butter treats. And if we’re super good, we get a ton of treats while taking photos. Actually, if we're super bad, hehe, we get offered even more treats.

It’s like our grandma always says, keep your eyes on the prize 😜

But our pawrents reminded us that this shoot was for a very special occasion: our very first professional portraits!

Portraits? This was definitely something new! Not sure what you do with such a thing and my daddy must have seen the confusion written all over my handsome face (his words not mine) because he started to explain about hanging something or other on the wall for all to see. I dunno, we'll see what it is when we get it.

As my body relaxed listening to his every word, sleep overcame me and I decided I needed a nap right in the middle of our session. Sorry, not sorry.

Once I woke up from my much needed nap, my momma let me know we had to select the best portraits. I have to admit, it was such a cool experience watching my pawrents pick out their favorite shots with the art director. There were a ton of “awwwws” and “oooooohs” moments. And by the sheer excitement on their faces, I just knew Willow and I were going to get lots of love that night.

Playing Dress Up?

Willow picked out our Elegant Black Lace Dog Dress and matching crystal bows.

Her dress is ideal for parties, galas, fancy affairs and pawfect for a Yorkshire Terrier, Maltese, Shih Tzu and other small dog breeds. I love small dogs. And big dogs. And medium dogs come to think of it!

Cute and Classy

Elegant Black Lace Dog Dress

I mean come on, look at how cute does my sis look.

I insisted on wearing our 3-piece Suit Ensemble: a Plaid Suit Jacket, Crisp White Dress Shirt with Bow Tie and Suit Vest but at the last minute decided to keep it casual by forgoing the jacket.

It's my go-to outfit to make an impression, celebrate weddings or any formal affair. Fits a Yorkshire Terrier, French Bulldog, Pug, Poodle, Maltese and other small & medium dog breeds perfectly. My pawrents say I'm a medium, but I'm a BIG DOG.

Why so Fancy?

We felt a little EXTRA but oh so special and couldn’t wait to share the photos with you today on National Dress Up Your Pet Day! This day is one of my favorites because it encourages pawrents everywhere to go all out for the furbabies.

Let’s all take a minute to give four paws up to Colleen Paige, celebrity pet lifestyle expert and animal behaviorist, for starting National Dress Up Your Pet Day back in 2009 and bringing fashion to the pet community. I don't know what I would be doing if I wasn't modeling clothes. Probably taking a nap.

Did you know when shopping our store, you are contributing to Hope for Paws, a cause near and dear to my pawrents’ hearts. They work tirelessly to rescue and save the lives of abandoned animals just like my sis Willow.

Which way is the Royal Wedding?

Princess Willow is wearing her gorgeous Vintage Elizabethan Wedding Dress. This lovely, handmade gown is incredibly romantic and regal, featuring white and cream intricate tulle lace.

And me (feel free to call me Prince Dilla) ready for love in my Black & Gold Velvet Embroidered Tuxedo so smooth and another great outfit for a formal affair.

About the author: Willow, a Bichon Frise mix with eyes that’ll melt your heart is a daddy’s girl. She is also the first in line to go walking, first to get food, first for kisses and cuddles. Whatever it is, Willow likes to be FIRST. She spent most of her life living in shelters so things haven't always been easy. But now, she gets to write about dog fashion, her new family and cool lil brother Dilla. Cool as a cucumber and named after the late amazing record producer J Dilla, Dilla is a Boston Terrier and French Bulldog mix. Admittedly, he hasn't always been a fan of dressing up, but Dilla has come to dig only dog clothes that are comfortable and functional. Hoodies and sweaters are his favorite! Join these two as they help pups unleash their fashionable side.
